This is a shrine for Belos, or Philip Wittebane. Belos is the main antagonist of The Owl House, a show that aired on Disney in 2020!

I first learned about him when my sister watched the show, and instantly fell in love with his design!!!!!!! I've been obsessed with this hag for years. sigh. He's very normal and has very good morals too 👀 👀 Click the angels to go home! Art is by sukifoof-art on tumblr.

Extended Character Profile

Philip Wittebane was born on [REDACTED], in Gravesfield, Connecticut, 400-some years ago. His brother, Caleb, fell in love with a witch named Evelyn which eventually led to Philip killing him over it. Because of this, he gained an obsessive hatred for magic and witches.

As emperor, he chose to make Golden Gaurds, artificial clones which appear to look like Caleb. There have been hundreds of Golden Gaurds over the years. It is implied that they all eventually choose to betray Philip. Out of all of them, the final one, Hunter, looks like most like Caleb.

At the end of their lives, Philip is the one who kills them, if they do not accidentally die on their own. He doesn't enjoy killing them, but continues to do so anyway. I'm sure he convinces himself it's a necessary evil!

Why I like him / Thoughts / Head canons

Originally, I was drawn to his design but as I learned more about his lore I started to love his character more and more. In late 2025 I decided to hop in and actually learn more about him, finally scratching the TOH itch...

I love him as a villain, he's really good at being hateable while also never really being redeemed. I never wanted him to turn good at the end, but also have a lot of thoughts about the finale..... I think he deserves more understanding from the fandom and also more background of him before he mentally deteriorated.

He has this aura of holiness around him, while also mainting a sinister look. I love to look at him! It's like you can tell he has issues just by looking at him. He really reminds me of Jeux Interdits by Tokyo Jihen.

I tried to think of an animal he resembles a bit ago, and the only thing I could think of was a hornet or wasp. You'll see a lot of that imagery in the things I make about him! The main reason why I landed on that was because... I dunno he just looks like one!

Bellos

the light shines on him so ethereally you’d think he has a chance of getting into heaven it never reaches his eyes but always goes in eyelashes and wounds the look he gives you like he’s holding your heart like you dropped it like he’s doing you a favor a pulled corner of the mouth lowered eyelids soft, long hair that goes down his back eternally tired but with the face of someone who perseveres you should trust him. the stray hairs say so

I wasn't in hate with him. I know everyone thought I was. But I wasn't. I hated him, of course. It was impossible not to hate Philip. And that was part of the problem. Everyone hated him.
